Escalator Escapade

Thursdays are usually busy days for us. Maddy has dance in Idaho Falls ant 9:30 and then preschool back in Rigby at 11:00. She was especially excited for preschool today because the went on a field trip to Papa Kelsey's (or as she calls it PAPSA KELSEYS) and learned about restaurants and pizza, and of course they got to sample the merchandise. Today after preschool we went shopping with Aunt Jaime, Madalynn definitely inherited the shopping gene from her Aunt Jam. We were headed down the escalator in Dilliards and Jaime and Greyson and I got on first and Maddy was following behind. Maddy went to step on it and slipped and fell down and then it apparently tried to eat her. She managed to get up but refused to get back on, as we are going further and further down the escalator she starts crying and squealing and the further away we get the louder she yells. So we were about half way down and I start running up the escalator to grab her. It was much harder than I would have thought, it was like something out of a bad movie, me running in slow motion up the escalator and Maddy screaming in the background. I finally made it up to her and tried to get her to step on and she refused, so I had to hold her all the way down, with all the nice people in the store laughing their heads off. She was all sorts of embarrassed and all she would say is "I can only go up, I can't go down." It was really strange because we have never had any problems on escalators before, but I kind of think we will for awhile now. The rest of the shopping trip was uneventful and I am sure this is something we will be laughing about for a long time.
