First Day of School!!

Well the much dreaded and equally anticipated day finally arrived. We had met her teacher the day before at the open house, she got to find all of her stuff and get a lay of the land. She was counting down the minutes until she got to go to school. I was trying to be excited and I really am so glad she's so excited and eager but I just can't believe she's in kindergarten. Anyways I was doing my best to be brave but apparently she saw through it and told me "Mom, I know you don't want me to grow up or go to school but I just have to do this, Okay Mom" Talk about a 5 year old going on 20 making me feel guilty. So I determined to only cry where she couldn't see me. That morning as any typical girl she changed her mine 3 or 4 times on what she was going to wear. She finally settled on one and was ready to go. She was disappointed that she didn't get to go to school on the bus but I just said it's Mommy's rule I get to take you to school at the first of ever year. She looked at me and said "Even College?" So here she is all ready for her first day with no worries or reservations just eager to get to school. It really did make it easier that she was so excited to go and not nervous or scared at all. Greyson knew something was up and was pretty leery all morning.

Greyson felt the same way I did as we were driving away without her. I did really good and didn't lose it until I was home and by myself. Even Brandon was impressed with my composure. My mom and Maddy sent me this cute little bouquet to make me feel better. The card said "It's going to be okay Mommy " They did brighten my day and I really am so happy and proud of her. It's just for completely selfish reasons I would love to freeze my children and not let them grow up.

Of course she loved every minute of it and her only disappointment the whole day was that I picked her up. She really wanted to ride the bus. She has been riding it since and is loving it. The older girls on the bus dote on her and ask her to ride with them and so she thinks she's pretty big stuff because she idolizes these girls. So the first week of school wasn't as painful as I thought and she's adjusting like a pro and is loving her teacher and classmates and everything about school.

Go Maddy! What a grown up. It's hard to let them grow up, but sounds like you handled it like a champ.
