Surprise Trip!!

On Saturday after festival we told the kids we were going to ride with Daddy to Pocatello for a meeting. They were not too excited about the idea and thought the car ride was really long. In all reality we drove all the way to Utah!! When we pulled up in front of our hotel they were very excited and a little confused, they were even more excited when we told them where we were and that we were staying for a few nights. When we checked in they didn't have the double room like we had requested so they bumped us up to a family suite. The kids thought this was great and Maddy said it was just like in Zak and Cody. They loved the hotel and surprise number one was a huge hit. Later that night was surprise number two and our real reason for sneaking away for a few days. We had taken the kids to Disney on Ice two years ago. We had tried to make it back last year but Great Grandma passed and her funeral was the weekend they were in Utah. So we definitely wanted to make it this year. So our second surprise was Disney on Ice tickets to Mickey and Minnie's Magical Journey. In the show the "fab five" go and visit the Lion King, Little Mermaid, Lilo & Stitch, and Peter Pan. We enjoyed the show so much; just like with everything they do Disney puts on a great show, and we all thought it was better then the Incredible's Adventure we saw last time. Maddy's favorite part was Tinkerbelle and Minnie and Greyson just wanted Mickey the whole time. They both picked cute cups that had snow cones in them and have been drinking out of them ever since. Greyson loves to tell anyone who will listen how naughty Stitch is but he still really loves his cup. When it was finally over Greyson wanted them to do it all over again. We also spent some time in Park City and visiting some of our favorite places and restaurants in Utah. We had a very eventful trip to the pool where Greyson jumped/fell in the water. He got a little scared and has been apologizing for falling in and retelling his story ever since. Our kids like the water but they are far from comfortable in it. The kids really didn't want to come home and they can't wait for our next trip. It was so nice to get away for a few days and even though Maddy missed some school it was well worth it. The kids loved their surprise and we all enjoyed our little getaway.

What fun parents you are! And clever, too! I'm gonna have to remember the "drive to Pocatello" trick for my kids, too!
