Onstage Dance Classic and Conference Weekend

Saturday was a wonderfully busy day. Saturday morning was spent getting ready for Maddy's competition and listening to the morning session of conference. We also discovered that Greyson's Yankee's jersey finally fit so of course we had to get some pictures. For those of you who don't know we are baseball fanatics at our house and we especially love the Yankee's.

The rest of the day was spent at the dance competition. First up was the dance down that she was so excited for. They teach all the girls a quick little routine and then whoever catches on and performs the best gets an award. The dance was a little advanced for her and she was with the 5, 6, 7 and 8 yr olds. The dance was also hip hop which she has never done before. She gave it her best shot and had fun doing it but the awards went to the older girls. Throughout the rest of the day she did her "Shining Star" and "Mellow Yellow dance and then of course we had to stay until the very end to see how they did. They did great and got second place in both of their dances. I know every parent must feel this way but my heart swells with pride when she is up there performing. She loves to dance and absolutely comes to life in front of an audience. She has grown each performance and is such a good little dancer. She is much braver and a lot more confident then I was at her age. We are so pleased she has found something she loves and takes great pride in. She has progressed so much this year in large part, thanks to her wonderful teachers at her new studio. She had a lot of support besides Brandon, Greyson and I, we had a lot of family there on and off throughout the day. Aunt Jam spent most of the day with us, also Grandma Lori and Grandpa Bob came, as well as Grandma Cookie and Grandpa Lou. Jaycee and Sicilee even came for her last performance of the night. I even got to see one of my best friends Jenny from high school, we only talked for a second but I got to see her cute little girl dance as well. The pictures at the actual competition Jaime took (thanks Jam) and almost got kicked out for. Their was no flash photography and on the last dance she forgot to turn her flash off so she got in trouble. It was a long day, but definitely a good one. I asked her on the way home if she had a fun day and she looked at me and said "How could I not have fun today".

Our Little Poser before the competition

Maddy's the one doing the toe touch in Lucky Star and in the middle on Mellow Yellow

Greyson hanging out at the competition with Grandpa, and looking like a little bookworm.

Sunday morning was our Semi-Annual Breakfast at Brandon's parents. We always have breakfast and then watch conference together and this was the first time we got to do it since they moved in to the new house. Conference was great as always, but it was a little strange without President Hinckley. I can't wait to get the Ensign to read the talks, I seem to do better at absorbing things when I can read them. The kids had fun playing with Mason and hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa. It's so nice for them to be in their new house and for the kids to be able to run around. They're working very hard at breaking in Grandma and Grandpa's beautiful new house.

Greyson being silly as usual

Hanging out with Mason

Brandon likes to turn babies into circus babies for some reason. I have pictures of both of my kids doing the same thing. He gets this from his dad, Lori has pictures of Brandon balancing on his dad's hand when he is little too. Mason wasn't sure what to think.

Sunday was another big day for Maddy. She has loved Grandma's piano since she was just tiny.

So on Sunday when Grandma Lori gave her, her first piano lesson she was on cloud nine. She has been waiting to turn 5 so her hands would be big enough and she couldn't have been more excited. She came home and practiced and we are entering the confusing world of quarter notes, half notes, and middle c, so I can help her practice at home. This ought to be interesting.

Oh Cherish... could your kids get any cuter?! That's so fun for maddy, she must be really good if they have her in the middle and front and center on both dances! :)
